By AnonMay 12, in Rav 4 Club. Longish beeps like dashes in Morse code, no warning lights from dashboard or anything. Sometimes it stops on its own, other times I have to switch off the engine - start again it's fine.
A flick through the manual always has beeps associated with warning lights to explain what they mean. I'm a but flumuxed. Any ideas what could be causing this? Is it just trying to be friendly and say good morning to me? Dont take this the wrong way, but are you putting your seatbelt on. It sounds similar to "key in with door open" alarm but have checked and door is closed and engine running. It begins like a normal beep and gets louder and faster after 30 seconds?
Definitely the seatbelt sound. Ah, that sounds about right, I had a bag on there this morning. Thanks very much all, Dutchrav, you deserve a hug. The double beeps can be turned off.
Hi Anon, if you simply click the passenger seatbelt together then you can continue to put your bag on the passenger seat. You can post now and register later. If you have an account, sign in now to post with your account. Paste as plain text instead.

Dont take this the wrong way, but are you putting your seatbelt on What I mean is, it's not the seatbelt warning bleeping at you is it?Is there a way to make my Toyota Rav4 stop beeping at me when my driver door is open and the engine is off.
Often I want to sit in my front seat with the door open while I get stuff together in my vehicle, and the car continuously beeps. Toyota service people have told me that I cannot disable it because it is connected to other things. I found this about the Rav4 door open chime with key in the ignition: Find the chime under the dash and unplug the connector. Just be glad it is not a tercel where the car thinks someone is trying to steal it and sets off the horn in a constant beep.
The way to solve that one by the way is to get out, lock and then unlock the drivers door. What will they come up with next? I am going to the toyota dealership tomorrow as after calling multiple service centers, I convinced the local dealership they should be able to customize something involving the smart key system and the beeping. I will let anyone know who is interested how things go…Thank you for all your replies. Went to dealership.
The dealership was unable to turn the beeping off if the car is partially on, and the door is open, or the seatbelts are off, or there is something heavy on my passenger seat triggering the beeping. Good luck! Did you ever get this fixed at the dealership?
Does it stop if you take the key partway out of the ignition? Follow the sound, locate the beeper, and disconnect the wiring to it.

My owners manual says the dealership can change the volume of the beep on my 4runner. You guys know ways around everything else on these things, Is there a shortcut to do this yourself.
My the way, loving my 4runner. Also I had a thread a few months back talking about painting my brushguard. I used epoxy spray paint from Ace and it is still holding up to road gravel. A work in progress. With the key out of the ignition and any door open, press and hold the UNLOCK switch on the remote for more than 5 seconds. The buzzer will sound 2 times. How do you do this for ''98 who don't have the rear window down button?
Ron Helmuth. How to change? Great info from you like always. As JWaldz noted he can not always hear the beep beep and as I am aging I notice same thing as well. Not really in favor of the horn honk to acknowledge the locking function.
I can always press the distress red button on back of the key fob if I need to locate the vehicle in a crowded parking lot for example. My "buzzer" died earlier this year. At max volume, it can just barely be heard, and you really have to listen for it.
It drives my wife nuts not being able to hear it. Anyone have a "buzzer" they would like to sell for a nominal fee? I set my beeper chirp to high this morning, thanks to this thread in a Google search, after just last night reading the part about contacting the dealer in my manual.
How to Change the Door Lock Sequence on a Toyota
The hell I needed a dealer to do that. I like to know they are locked.
Apparently it won't chirp if a door is ajar. I lost count of how many times I've read a post or thread and was like Thread revival: despite turning the volume all the way up the buzzer is just barely audible with my head next to it. I went to eBay and got a replacement thinking the buzzer was shot.
New one arrived, plugged it in, same scenario. Anyone have any ideas? Originally Posted by Ron Helmuth.Forum Rules. Remember Me? Advanced Search. Page 1 of 2 1 2 Last Jump to page: Results 1 to 10 of Add Thread to del. Ray O. Share Share this post on Digg Del.
My Lexus has a volume knob for the keyless entry beeper there. Yes, it does mention it. It states that pressing the lock button on the remote key will lock all the doors and cause the vehicle to beep once.
Pressing the unlock button once causes two beeps. Pressing the unlock button twice causes four beeps. It also states that the alarm function can be disabled and to see your dealer if you want it so disabled. Any way to stop the bleepin' beepin'? Thanks for the reply.
Perhaps I should ask if you, or anyone else listening, knows why the system engineers felt it necessary for the system to wink and make noise when the doors are locked or unlocked with the remote. Maybe I'm overlooking something. Page 1 of 2 1 2 Last Jump to page:. Similar Threads theft lock unlock By abomb69 in forum alt.

For example with my car I had to hold door unlock button and insert and take out key so many times then open door. Any help is greatly appreciated and I tried googling this already to no avail.
